The Most In-Demand Trucks

To gain a better understanding of the various types of vehicles used in international ground transportation, it is essential to comprehend the components of a truck trailer. In brief, a truck trailer is composed of two key parts: the puller and the trailer. Diverse characteristics and capabilities of logistics trailers determine the types of ground transport. While the puller can be singular or plural, the trailer can vary significantly, serving as a dedicated vehicle for a specific type of transportation.

The following trailer categories are primarily distinguished:

  1. Tent Trailer: This category includes three sizes:
    • Standard: With a volume not exceeding 95 cubic meters..
    • Mega: Boasting a volume ranging from 96 to 105 cubic meters.
    • Trailer: The largest of these, with capacities of 110 cubic meters and above.

What is Reefer?

Refrigerated Trailer (Reefer): This trailer type, commonly known as a "ref trailer," is widely used for international land transport. It allows for the transportation of goods that require specific temperature conditions, typically ranging from -25 to +25 degrees Celsius. This includes perishable items like food products and medicines.

A ref trailer can be divided into several sections, enabling the simultaneous transport of goods at different temperature regimes. For instance, when transporting ice cream and cheese, distinct temperature requirements are met: ice cream necessitates temperatures of -18 degrees or lower, while cheese is transported at +2/+4 degrees Celsius.

It is important to note that all ref trailers come equipped with temperature monitoring systems. As the cargo owner, you have the right to receive temperature records throughout the entire transportation period, ensuring compliance with the requested temperature conditions. Ref trailers can typically carry a maximum load of 20 tons.

What is Tent?

A tent trailer features a trailer covered with a flexible tent structure. The dimensions of a tent trailer can vary, with options for standard-sized trailers as well as "Mega" trailers with capacities exceeding 120 cubic meters. Tent trailers are predominantly used for standard cargo, known in logistics as "General Cargo." Their appeal lies in their flexibility and convenience, enabling loading and unloading through various methods, including the rear door, side, and top using a crane.

Typically, a tent trailer can carry a maximum load of 22 tons (up to 25 tons in specific countries). The following highlights the characteristics of each of the three tent trailer sizes, with differences primarily based on their dimensions:

What is Mega Trailer?

A mega trailer, falling under the tent category and often referred to as a "jumbo," features movable tent walls, making loading and unloading processes more efficient. Most mega trailers have a height of 3 meters and are more voluminous compared to standard trailers, with dimensions ranging from 96 to 105 cubic meters.
